Doctoral research

This creative practice research aims to explore how the presence or absence of neurodivergent representations have influenced the writing produced by self-identified neurodivergent Australian authors. Using narrative inquiry, this research will examine the influence of representation on neurodivergent Australian authors and assess the ideas, concepts, values and beliefs they use to write their own neurodivergent characters. Through thematic and discourse analysis, the research will present a framework or set of guiding principles to inform the production of my own creative work, a middle-grade fantasy novel focused on a female neurodivergent protagonist.
